A warm Cumbrian welcome to our self-catering accommodation near the Lake District and Solway Coast. Church House Barn is a unique barn conversion that gives you a great holiday home from home for your stay. It’s been redesigned as a great place to relax and as a base to explore the nearby Lake District and Solway coast.
The owners (also your neighbours) have created a luxury holiday cottage with a fresh and welcoming feel. It’s an upside-down house with plenty of Cumbrian character and traditional features as well as modern touches to make your self-catering holiday as comfortable as possible.
Another great bonus is that, unlike holiday cottages in the Lake District national park itself, you will find a perfect oasis of tranquillity, well away from the crowds, jams and queues.
Downstairs
With the upside-down layout, your front doors lead into an entrance hall with the bedrooms and family bathroom off it. Both bedrooms are calm and decorated in muted tones of grey and blue. The double bedroom has patio doors leading to a shared courtyard and is perfect for relaxing. There is comfortable seating, a perfectly positioned TV for the decadence of TV in bed and an en-suite shower room with a powerful shower.
The second bedroom is smaller but perfectly formed with two single beds and a merry seaside feel to it – a reminder of the coast just a short distance away. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over it.
Upstairs
Church House Barn is self-catering holiday cottage that has been designed to make the most of the Cumbrian light and great views to the Solway Coast. Upstairs is open plan with a modern kitchen area at one end, dining in the middle and then the lounge area, looking out through French windows and a Juliet balcony on to paddocks and trees with the fields beyond. Take your time over breakfast and supper, sink into the sofas with a good book or enjoy the view. To keep everyone amused, there are hundreds of options available on the Smart TV, there are shelves of books (including plenty of Lake District guides), board games and there’s a DVD player and a wide selection of DVDs to borrow too. (Please note that these are all rotated between visits to ensure Covid safety).
The modern kitchen is what you’d expect in this luxury cottage - beautiful and fully equipped for a short break with a dishwasher, electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge freezer and plenty of storage space. If you need to use a washing machine and dryer during your holiday, just ask, as the owners have a spare one next door.
Outside Church House Barn
Outside you have a patio seating area, complete with garden furniture and there’s a wooden shed here, which is useful for bike storage.
There is plenty of parking in the courtyard, which is shared with the owners of Church House Barn. All in all, Church House Barn is the perfect jumping off point for many areas of the Lake District, the Solway Coast and West Cumbria.
